I have been obsessed with this place since first hearing of the mushroom stuffed crab legs! You heard right... gorgonzola mushrooms and portabella cheese stuffed into hollowed crab legs and boiled, patted dry, reboiled and served in a bread bowl! Can anyone say delicious? The place is great for parties, dates or just dining alone. I didn't see any animals walking around in the place or serving guests but I also didn't mill around the kitchen or stock room.
Stopped by here for dinner while on a business trip. The atmosphere was nice and the food was very good. Seems like it would be a nice place to hang out and have a drink or two if you're a local.
I used to recommend the Rookery. I even took my son and others there. My son has worked in the finest restaurants in CT and NY and even he RAVED about the food, the service, etc. That was then (2 years ago). This is now...POOR food...burnt fries, burgers that you have to lift the bun to find it. Then, we were given a choice - grain fed beef, Angus, free range, etc. Now, those words are not even in their vocabulary. When brought to their attention I was provided with a $50 gift card. I went back once...there was no change...only excuses about having "remodeled"...well to this diner, they remodeled their fare DOWNWARD. I am definitely NOT excited about using up what is left on the gift card. It has become a very disappointing dining experience.
This is a great place the food was amazing! The atmosphere was great for a local bar/food place. My only advice is if you go here make sure you have time to wait for seating,and for your food to brought out to you because sometimes it takes a while. However customer service was great our waiter was very well informed of the menu and helped my table decide on what we wanted. 4 stars due to wait time.
I was so excited to visit here and bring my date here too! The atmosphere was amazing. I sat down at the bar, which was empty. I then asked the waiter what he would suggest as the best burger and the best beer, he was pretty helpful. I hour and 15 minutes later, no food still....and no waiter. The couple who had sat down next to me just 15 minutes prior had received their food as I hit that 1 hour and 15 minute mark. I can not speak for the rest of the restaurant as I was only at the bar but it was horrible. I was so disappointed that I got up and walked out. I will not be returning. I had picked this restaurant based off of all the amazing reviews.
