Beautiful cemetery. So much history. Gregg Allman, his brother and another band member are buried here. Worth the trip if you're passing through Macon. They hung out here by the railroad tracks and wrote many of their songs.
Very awesome. Duane Allman, Barry Oakley, Little Martha, Elizabeth Reed all buried there. Also, the Bond Memorial where album photo was shot. Absolutely beautiful.
I used to visit Rose Hill often when I lived in Warner Robins and Macon. I first got interested in it when I found out Duane Allman and Berry Oakley were buried there. It is also the burial site of Elizabeth Reed, the tomb stone that gave the Allman Brothers the inspiration for the song "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed". Very cool place to take pictures and walk around.
This is a beautiful cemetery and a MUST for taphophiles like me. It's huge, there's a train that rides by around 4pm, and in some places you can find hidden graves in overgrown roots and flora. Besides that it's where the Allman brothers got inspiration for a couple of songs and ultimately where they were laid to rest.
A beautiful historic cemetery that's always worth a visit. Do watch your step - the hills can be kind of steep! There's great local history here, and you'll always find something new if you stalk about for a while.
