To start off, I had a 6 month lease for a duplex through these people. When I first looked at it, before renting the duplex, the place had not been cleaned up. I said if they cleaned it, I would move in. The lady (Denise?) said she would arrange to have the duplex cleaned up so that I could move in. So, a few days later, assuming she fulfilled her promise, I went to the office and signed the lease. Now, let me explain, the place still had not been cleaned to the point that there was a 'blunt roach' on the window sill above the sink, and there was a cigarette bud in the sink. The carpet clearly had not been vacuumed, nothing had been wiped down, the walls were off-white from obvious cigarette smoking the previous tenants must have done. I mean, I spent hours cleaning it before moving my stuff in. Then, the A/C broke in the mid of summer, and they sent the shadiest, dopey looking, joke-of-maintenance-men over at least 5 separate occasions before finally fixing it, which took over a month, almost two months if I remember correctly. So, I finished the 6 month lease, always paying rent on time. I left the duplex in a much better condition than it was left to me, but I only received 50 of my 450 dollar deposit back and I even had to hassle them for weeks to get that!!! I would do anything in my power to make sure no one I know gets screwed how they screwed me. **edit** Oh, and I forgot to add, about 2 or 3 months after ending the lease with these slumlords, I received a letter in the mail at my new address claiming I owed them money for unpaid rent(which obviously I didn't)! Extremely unprofessional.
